AMHERSTBURG —The Harrow United Church's community clothing drive committee is getting ready to launch its 2009 campaign and once again is receiving the assistance of a local car dealership.
This year's clothing drive began Sept. 19 and will last until Nov. 16, Items can be dropped off at the Hometown Family Pharmacy located at 38 Queen St. in Harrow as well as Thrasher Sales and Leasing at 251 Simcoe St. in Amherstburg.
The Tomek Building, located at 72 Kings St E. in Harrow across from the Shoppers Drug Mart. will be the pick-up location Nov. 28-29 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
"Every year for the past four years the number of people who have come to us for help has significantly increased," said Findlay. "In light of what Windsor-Essex County is desperately trying to recover from, it is crucial we all partner together to restore hope and perhaps a little peace of mind as well."
Organizers are hopeful of collecting as many coats, boats and other clothing material as they can. They are optimistic of getting more donations this year than last year. A rule of one coat per person in an immediate family has been instituted for this year to try and stretch the amount of coats they have for everyone.
"We're just hoping to get as much (donations) as we can now" she said. "If you have stuff, we'll take your stuff gladly."
The clothing drive takes – and will give away – clothing from babies to adults.
