AMHERSTBURG — The Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce is once again trying to get residents and businesses to decorate the town.

They are holding their third annual decorating contest in which the best three in each of the residential and business categories will be named. Chamber administrator Susie White said the competition is another way for people to come and visit Amherstburg in addition to the ongoing River Lights winter festival.

"It's just a way to light up the town," she explained.

There is no fee to participate however residences and businesses must be registered by Dec. 4. Homes and businesses can be nominated by others as well. An independent team of judges will travel around the community between Dec. 7-11 with the winners being notified Dec. 15.

White pointed out that the prizes have been donated through local businesses. She said registration forms can be found in local papers and the chamber website at www.amherstburgchamberofcommerce.ca.

"We've had a good response the last few years," said White. "It's something fun for people to do. A lot of people put their heart and soul into decorating."
